Rihanna is one celebrity who changes hairstyles at the drop of a hat. Her numerous hairstyle changes have constantly awed and stunned her public and have provided inspiration to millions of women around the globe. Her ever changing hairstyles has been the topic of numerous comments both positive and negative and have been the subject of speculation both from her fans and critics. Most of Rihanna’s hairstyles are super fabulous although some are considered a little outré but no one can deny that she carries off all her hairstyles with panache and flair. Let me take you down memory lane to review Rihanna’s hairstyles over the years:

When Rihanna hit the music scene in 2005, she was a fresh faced girl from Barbados wearing a sweet long, dark hair that flatters her lovely face but did not do much to her image nor did it made her stand out from all the other young pop singers of her genre.

In 2006 Rihanna was still wearing her hair long but had it colored deep chocolate brown and this year was a turning point in her hairstyle evolution. When she attended the 2006 MTV Movie awards she stunned everybody with a 50s inspired hairstyle with full shaped layers cut around the bangs, top and sides of her glam curly long hair.
To grab attention at the 2006 Teen Choice Award, Rihanna styled her golden brown hair in a sexy updo; hair swept off her face and piled high on top of her crown in big fat curls.

This year marks Rihnaa’s romance with short and funky hair. She started the year with a medium-length concave bob and throughout the year, she either wore it with funky purple streaks; sometimes straight and sometimes curly. She also experimented on bangs – full frontal bangs or long and edgy bangs swept to the side. She even colored colored her hair ink black. The year ended with Rihanna wearing a short simple bob in black.

This year was the year for a short-haired Rihanna. She started 2008 with her shortest haircut ever, a short crop with long jazzy razored piecey bangs adding interest to the hairstyle for her red-brown hair. She wore another funky and fresh look at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards with the top layers in light blonde and some addition of blue pieces for contrast.

Rihanna’ s hair at the start of 2009 was what now becomes her signature short hair but with a basic cut but the with different styling one would not know it is one and the same haircut. She wore it black with blonde highlights in a Mohawk-like do or with a softly curled top and low-cut sides smoothed down. She even went fully blonde in a high-contrast do, very blonde on top with the sides remaining dark. Another 2009 unforgettable Rihanna hairstyle is a stylish cut with a punk influence with over-the-eye fringe.

Rihanna started 2010 with a honey blonde hair with side-swept bangs highlighted by long hair on the crown directed upwards, close-cropped back and sides dramatically darker than the blonde front hair. Another edgy hairstyle for Rihanna that year was a blonde-and-black style that is slightly longer than her usual style but eye-catching nonetheless. 2010 was also the year when Rihanna left behind her blonde hair for her now, well –recognized vibrant, show stealing red hair. She wore her fire-engine red hair with shaved back and side., medium length, in a ponytail with side-swept bangs, and in a sexy long curly updo.
